Marc Reappointed to Leadership Role in ABA International Section

The International Section of the American Bar Association has re-nominated Marc for a third one-year term as Vice-Chair of its Canada Committee. Marc has been active in the ABA International Section since 1993. Before beginning service on the Canada Committee in 2006, he had been a vice-chair and co-chair of the Section’s international litigation and international arbitration committees.

Marc Selected to Arbitrator Roster in Singapore

The Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC) has selected Marc as only the 11th American arbitrator on its Panel of International Arbitrators, after review of his qualifications by the SIAC’s Panel Review Committee. The SIAC is a major provider of international arbitration services for disputes involving one or more parties from China and the Asia-Pacific region.

Marc Certified to Sit for UK Solicitors Transfer Exam

Marc has received the required Certificate from the UK Solicitors’ Regulatory Authority to sit for the Qualified Lawyers Transfer Test, to be given in mid-August. Upon hoped-for successful completion of the examination, Marc will complete requirements for admission as a UK Solicitor.

Marc Once Again Fellow of Chartered Institute of Arbitrators

Marc has rejoined the ranks of the Fellows of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, after a hiatus. Marc was originally designated as a Fellow in 1993, upon completion of the Fellowship course and Award-writing examination. Marc was a recipient of the Institute’s President’s Prize, conferred for excellence demonstrated in the award-writing examination.

New Engagements in recent months.

New Engagements in recent months,  Marc (i) was appointed as chair of an ICDR arbitral tribunal in a case involving a multinational real property trust having trustees in the U.S., Israel  and the Netherlands, and issued a partial award in that case, (ii) was engaged by U.K. corporate clients to prosecute business defamation claims in a U.S. federal district court, (iii) issued a final award as Sole Arbitrator in an ICDR arbitration involving the U.S. securities offering of a Chinese energy company, (iv) continued service on an ICDR arbitral tribunal that rendered two partial awards in an investment management dispute between U.S. and Saudi parties, (v) continued service as lead counsel for an Italian export company pursuing claim in a U.S. federal district court governed by the Vienna Sales of Goods Convention, and (vi) completed an engagement as counsel to a Canadian corporation in an ICDR arbitration involving a merger transaction in the magazine publishing industry.

Marc Selected to Best Lawyers in America.

Marc has been selected by his peers in the profession for inclusion in the 25th anniversary edition of The Best Lawyers in America, in the specialty of International Arbitration. Selection is based on a peer-review survey involving confidential evaluations from top attorneys in the country. The American Lawyer describes Best Lawyers in America as ‘the most respected referral list of attorneys in practice.

New Engagements.

Marc has been recently engaged to (i) undertake a federal court proceeding to vacate in part an international arbitration award; (ii) advise a European client, in the entertainment industry, on a pending international arbitration under World Intellectual

Property Organization arbitration rules, and (iii) advise another European client, in a technology industry, regarding US securities laws issues.
